Hemu was a Hindu King during Delhi Sultanate. He was General of Adil Shah Suri during Sur Dynasty. Hemu was a capable civil administrator and also have finest military techniques. He fought Afghan rebels across North India from the Punjab to Bengal and the Mughal forces of Humayun and Akbar in Agra and Delhi, winning 22 battles for Adil Shah.

Hemu claimed crown of Delhi Sultanate after defeating Akbar’s Mughal forces in the Battle of Tughlaqabad in 1556. He was killed by Akbar forces in the second Battle of Panipat during 1556.

Adil Shah Suri was the seventh and final ruler of the Sur dynasty. Hemu was Hindu general of Adil Shah Suri. ln 1555,  Akbar’s absence from Delhi on a campaign, Adil Shah and Hemu attacked Agra and captured it. Hemu intended to attack Delhi. Tardi Beg Khan, who was Humayun’s successor, Akbar’s governor in Delhi tried to defend Delhi. In 1556, Hemu defeated Tardi Khan in the Battle of Tughlaqabad and appointed himself ruler of Delhi  rather than  Adil Shah.
