CENTO stands for Central Treaty Organization. It is also known as Baghdad Pact or  Middle East Treaty Organization (METO). It was a military alliance. It was formed in 1955 by Pakistan, Turkey, Iran, Iraq and UK. The organization headquarters was first at Baghdad, Iraq from 1955 to 1958. Iraq was the first country to leave CENTO in 1959.   Then CENTO headquarter was Ankara, Turkey from 1958 to 1979.Due to USA pressure, CENTO was dissolved in 1979.
