Syed Ahmed Shah commonly known as Patras Bokhari was born in 1898 in Peshawar. He served as the first permanent representative of Pakistan in the United Nations from 1951 to 1954 and from 1954 to 1958 he remained as the Under Secretary of the UN, Head of Information. He was also a famous Urdu writer. Patras Bokhari died on 5 December 1958 in Valhalla Cemetery, New York.
