Village x has a population of 68000 which is decreasing at the rate of 1200 per year. Village y has a population of 42000, which is increasing at the rate of 800 per year. In how many years will the population of two villages be equal?

Given:

Village x,

Population = 68000

Rate of decrease = 1200 per year

Village y,

Population = 42000

Rate of increase = 800 per year

To find:

The year when the population at both the villages are same.

Solution:

Framing an equation,

68000 – 1200 ( Years ) = 42000 + 800 ( Years )

Equating and solving for Years,

2000 ( Years ) = 26000

Years = 26000 / 2000

Years = 13
